BHT are very pleased to hear that dredging of the harbour will recommence from early September following the shared purchase of a dredger. Sailors in the Bembridge One Design class are apparently first in line to see the benefit as the BODA pool is to be its first task. Users of Bembridge Marina (last dredged some six years ago) will apparently be the next to feel the benefit.
We very much hope that this signals the start of a long term, regular and published, dredging programme for the Harbour. In addition to the dredging, a vital requirement of the programme is the disposal of the material and we are glad that a 5,000 cubic metre per year disposal licence has been secured. We watch with great interest as the logistics are put in place to undertake this programme which should, when completed, make a very significant contribution to the Harbours dredging needs.
