Three paces forward towards a better outcome for the Harbour (Message to Members 23.6.16)
- Planning Officers acknowledge concerns about likely profits from the residential planning scheme and instruct District Valuer’s office for an independent viability appraisal.
- The housing application to go back to the Planning Committee for a new vote, acknowledging flaws in the original report and process.
- Planning Officers address the confusion caused by misinformation in the Houseboats LDC Application
But no complacency, please! There may yet be several paces back in this fight to ensure the Harbour is the real winner. There remains a very real prospect of a JR challenge to the residential application if all the issues are not properly addressed in the interests of the Harbour itself, rather than the private interests of the completely separate applicant company.
We remain sure that this extravagant and wasteful scheme to deliver a few extra toilets is not the way to save the Harbour… More on how we think it can be saved to follow soon.
