Dear Members ,
We have responded robustly to misguided criticisms of the IWC in the County Press. The IWC are faced with misinformation from the applicant BIL and serious environmental concerns expressed by Natural England. Accordingly we wrote this response which is yet to be published. In the same response we confronted Mr Thorpe with the facts. For a fuller analysis underpinning that letter you may care to refer to this.
As of today the SHA’s marina dredging programme is set to achieve about 1/3 of its declared target within the 21 day period it advertised. This is certainly not the fault of the digger driver or bargemen, but rather perhaps a naive estimate of the amount of trips the SHA’s own barge could make to the Nab Tower. By contrast the dredging commissioned from ML Dredging by BSC of its own pool (using ML’s rather larger barge) appears to be running to target.
We hope the SHA may yet pull the rabbit out of the hat and achieve its targets, perhaps by employing an additional barge.
