No surprises here as the erosion of the beach near what was once Bembridge No 1 Groyne continues, and fence panels, mess and even razor wire collect on the beach on its way towards the harbour. Despite declaring it a priority, the Harbour Company has stopped progress on any repairs to the Groyne, even when the community offered to largely fund it.
As well as the man-made material – which the harbour company may be persuaded to clean up – thousands of tons of sand and shingle move inexorably towards the harbour each year, for the want of simple rational decisions from the Harbour Company, decisions that would surely be in their own interest.
